Gentle snow

Windless winter

I had a bit of trouble with this image. I couldn't decide if the image required a high contrast filter. I printed the image two ways: like this and with the filter, and I eventually decided that I appreciated the softness and complexities of grey tones on the print without the filter. Don't get me wrong, it looked great with the high contrast filter. But it felt too generic. It was satisfying because it was what I expected. I printed it this way because it says something different. It suddenly speaks nostalgia and melancholia. The subtleties in the grey tones add intricacy and weed out a nonspecific purpose.
